The Cycle of a Butterfly

April 20, 20232 min read

The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough." -Rabindranath Tagore

As we enter spring and see all the fluttering butterflies, you may be reminded of when your children were little, and you collected caterpillars in hopes they would transform into a beautiful butterfly. Maybe along the way you study the stages of growth and development: egg > caterpillar > chrysalis > butterfly.

We can apply this cycle to our lives, culminating in the beautiful emergence of a butterfly, aka: the strongest, healthiest older adult you can be. As we all emerge from winter and a pandemic we can look around and see who has emerged in what stage. Some may be sprouting as eggs, ready to start their journey to health. Some may look more like a caterpillar preparing for a long journey ahead armed with knowledge to implement. Others may be in those final stages of a chrysalis about ready to pop. Wherever we all are, we are ALL on our path to having healthy strong bodies.

What do butterflies love more than being strong and beautiful? They love traveling with friends, they love a community! When we look at our community, we see many of us are stuck in the egg or caterpillar stage. The best thing we can do for these community members is to invite them into our fold. Our goal at TASH is a STRONG older population! A population that is often overlooked, we are here to help you emerge as the much-desired butterfly. Because if we are healthier individuals, we are a healthier community.

This month as every month, and every day, we are committed to spreading the word about ending sarcopenia, osteopenia, and obesity. Robert Linkul, friend, mentor and founder of TOA has created an all-important video for us to share with our family and friends to help build this community of health. Please watch:  My Most Important Video Ever! - My Mission in Life, all summed up in 5 minutes!!! Then, share with everyone you know. ( https://youtu.be/IwN0naF2EWc )

Bring a friend along in this journey of health, both YOU and your friend will benefit. Soon we will be a migrating flutter of monarch butterflies, helping each other on our path to wellness.
